CPI Accuses Modi Government of Causing Collateral Damage
The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India issued the following statement accusing the Modi government of inflicting collateral damage on the economy:
The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India notes with great anguish and pain the continuing slowdown in the economy which has touched now a new low of 4.5 per cent. This is the natural outcome of the wrong pro-corporate and anti-people economic policies of the RSS-BJP controlled NDA government led by Narendra Modi. With this new low, the economy has fallen back to the six-year-old low.
The Party urges the Modi government to stop the blame game and take steps to ensure the consumers are taken care of by putting money into their hands. The government should at least now accept the fact that without enhancing the purchasing power of the masses, no meaningful rise in growth will take place. So far unfortunately the government has been only pampering the corporates by giving undue concessions including massive cut in corporate tax.
The Party wants the Modi government to discuss with all stakeholders including all political parties the state of the economy and the measures to be undertaken. Besides, the government must come out with a white paper on the state of the economy.
