The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India strongly condemns the unprovoked and unwarranted arrest of Party general secretary D Raja, national council secretaries Atul Kumar Anjaan, Binoy Viswam MP and around hundred other activists at Raj Ghat in the national capital on January 30, 2020. As part of the left, democratic secular parties’ concluding programme observing ‘Save Constitution, Save Our Country’ week, party leaders and activists of all the above parties were holding a human chain from Rajghat to Shantivan to Red Fort to Jama Masjid, to Daryganj to Rajghat.
As the human chain was completed with the participation of 10,000 activists — students, youth, women, farmers, workers and other from all walks of life — CPI general secretary was addressing the gathering at Rajghat, police arrested the party leaders and around 100 activists. Modi-Shah government was nervous at the human chain marking of Martyr’s Day on January 30 as their party, RSS and Godse were involved in the gruesome murder of the Father of Nation.
The Party severely condemns the unwarranted arrest and wisking away of arrested leaders and activists to undeclared destination. The Party also warns the Modi-Shah duo of dire consequences saying that no amount of repression can quell mass uprising once the people are awakened.
