CPI Condoles Demise of Com D Pandian
The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India issued the following statement today (February 26, 2021) expressing heart-felt condolences at the demise of Comrade D Pandian:
The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India conveys its heart-felt condolences at the demise of Comrade D Pandian, former member of the National Executive and former secretary of the Tamil Nadu state council of the Party. He breathed his last in the morning of February 26 due to multiple health problems.
As soon as the news of his critical condition and further deterioration of his health reached yesterday at Party’s central headquarters, General Secretary D Raja rushed to Chennai and visited Com Pandian in the hospital. He met Com Pandian’s daughters and son there.
Com Pandian was one of the tallest leaders of Tamil Nadu in particular and of the communist movement of the country in general. He came into politics as a student and rose to become Party’s national leader. He joined the CPI in the year 1953. He was a prolific writer and eloquent speaker. He was also editor of the Janasakthi, the daily organ of CPI.
Com Pandian is survived by his two daughters and a son.
The Party expresses its condolences to the Tamil Nadu leadership of the Party and to the bereaved members of his family. Red flag in the Party headquarters has been put in half-mast in his honour.
