CPI Condoles Demise of P.S. Krishnan
The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India issued the following statement on November 11, 2019:
The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India notes with pain the demise of former prominent IAS officer P. S. Krishnan, a committed and untiring fighter for the social justice on 10th November, 2019 at the age of 87. He championed the cause of people especially those from Scheduled Caste, Schedule Tribe and Other Backward Classes, whose voices were even marginalized and suppressed in post-independent India.
Though born in a traditional upper caste family, he always fought against the caste system. He paid a price for taking sides with the marginalized and speechless people. He used his bureaucratic position as an IAS officer to help the deprived sections of the society for their fight for justice by getting promulgated several constitutional and legislative provisions. He was the man behind the legal provision of bestowing SC status to Dalit Buddhists. A very important initiative of his was setting up of the Special Component Plan for Scheduled Castes. He was known as the encyclopedia of the most complex caste system of India and put his every effort to destroy the institution of caste by empowering the downtrodden including minorities.
The towering personality of PS Krishnan will guide all those who carry forward his fight for the oppressed and suppressed.
The Party sends its heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family.
