CPI Condoles Demise of Shri Jaipal Reddy
D. Raja, General Secretary, Communist Party of India issued the following statement condoling the passing away of Shri Jaipal Reddy:
Shri Jaipal Reddy who just passed away started as a vibrant student activist and leader in Osmania University. Right from the beginning he was attracted towards the ideas of socialism and democracy. He became active in Congress Party. Always smiling, warm hearted and brilliant in articulation, he was an asset to everyone. When Mrs. Indira Gandhi declared emergency, Shri Jaipal Reddy quit the Congress. He continued his political activity with Janata Party and later with Janta Dal. He joined back Congress when he felt that strengthening secular forces is the only way to defeat communal NDA. He was Union Minister in Shri Manmohan Singh Cabinet during 2004-2009. Wherever he was, the Welfare of poor people, the values of Democracy and secularism are very dearer to him.
He always maintained cordial relations with Left parties in India particularly with CPI. He played a key role in fianalising Common Minimum Programme at the time of U.F Ministry formation and UPA Ministry formation. His loss is irreparable particularly when the country is facing the ongoing rule of communal fascist forces.
CPI expresses deep sorrow and conveys its condolences to the near and dear office family.
