CPI Condoles Demise of Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang
The National Council of the Communist Party of India notes with deep sorrow the demise of Vietnam’s President Tran Dai Quang who passed away on September 21, 2018 at the age 61 after a prolonged and serious illness.
He passed away succumbing to the illness despite devoted treatment by professors and doctors both in Vietnam and abroad.
As President since April 2016 after heading for more than four decades the powerful ministry of public security, Quang had a reputation as a tough leader, who had contributed a lot for Vietnam’s socialist construction. He held one of the country’s top four positions and was officially the head of state boosting Vietnam’s profile on the world stage.
Quang visited India as President, meet government leaders and leaders of CPI, held bilateral discussions with leaders of Communist Party of India along with his official discussion with the leaders of the Government of the India. He did show his personal interest in strengthening party to party relationship between Communist Party of Vietnam and Communist Party of India.
His last public appearance was just two days ago, at a meeting with visiting Chinese politicians and foreign dignitaries in Hanoi. He was a member of the Politburo.
CPI National Council sends its heartfelt condolences to the central committee of Communist Party of Vietnam and to the bereaved family members of Com. Tran Dai Quang.
