CPI Deplores the Killings of 15 Civilians in Nagaland
The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India issued the following statement (December 6, 2021) deploring the killings of 15 civilians in Nagaland:
The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India condemns the killings of 15 civilians and one security personnel in Nagaland. The Union Home Minister must answer to the nation on these repeated failures of intelligence resulting in the loss of lives of our fellow countrymen in different parts of the country including Jammu and Kashmir.
The Party demands an impartial inquiry into the entire incident. The government, Prime Minister and Home Minister should be responsible for the lack of transparency surrounding the issue of Nagaland and Naga talks. The political and social turmoil that prevails in the North-East also demands the repeal of Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) from Statute Book, as it is evident that AFSPA has failed in restoring normalcy in the region.
The Party feels that it is high time the government realises that police and military cannot solve people’s problems.
