CPI on Electoral Verdict
The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India issued the following statement on May 23, 2019 on the people’s verdict of General Elections 2019:
The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India while acknowledging the verdict of the people in favour of BJP and NDA, notes that they have miserably failed to win any seat in states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andhra Pradesh.
The Party points out that it should not be forgotten that the Modi government, BJP-RSS did all kinds manipulations and manoeuvres to polarise the voters in the name of religion and armed forces. They could successfully divert the attention of the people from the real burning issues like unemployment, rural distress and devastating measures like demonetisation and GST.
The Party wants the people of this country to be more vigilant as during the last five years the Modi government has been continuously attacking the rights of all sections of people — workers, youth, students, women. The economy is already in doldrums and with the global economy under severe strain due to rising oil prices, the daily life of common people will turn more miserable. The unity of Left, secular, democratic forces is the need of the hour, to defend values of the Constitution. Determined battles have to be fought by the working class.
