CPI Pays Homage and Tributes to Com Gouri Amma
Communist Party of India general secretary D Raja has issued today (May 11, 2021) the following statement on behalf of the Party paying homage and respect to Com K R Gouri Amma who passed away today at 7 a.m.:
The demise of Comrade K R Gouri Amma is a great loss to the left movement of our country. Comrade Gouri Amma was one of the outstanding women leaders of the country and Indian communist movement. She had to endure the most heinous police brutality for upholding the rights of marginalised sections. She was the revenue minister in the first communist government of Kerala in 1957 and introduced the revolutionary land reform bill in the assembly. She was an efficient administrator and always stood for the rights of Dalits and Adivasis. Comrade Gouri Amma was always known for her courage and strong commitment. She never diluted her stand for the sake of political positions.
She will always be remembered for her great contributions for the cause of poor and toiling masses.
CPI expresses its deepest condolences at the sad demise of Comrade Gouri Amma.
