CPI Press Release
Updated: Dec 5, 2018
The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India issued the following statement to the press on November 22, 2018:
The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India condemns the abrupt dissolution of Jammu and Kashmir state legislative assembly by the Governor, late evening on 21st November, 2018. This is done to avert the formation of a government by National Conference, Congress and PDP who together have a clear majority in the assembly. They have a combined 56 MLAs in 87 member assembly. There was another counter claim by Mr. Sajjad Gani Lone along with BJP but it has no required number to form the government.
The Governor misused his office, on the instructions of BJP central leadership. The very purpose of keeping the assembly in suspended animation is to explore the possibility of the formation of government. When the majority wants to form government with a new political combination, BJP get nervous and shamelessly proceeded to dissolution of the Legislative Assembly through Raj Bhavan conspiracy. This is an anti-democratic move. Democratic institutions are being squeezed and getting destroyed by the BJP led NDA government under Narendra Modi. This should be condemned by one and all.
The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India condemns the chilli powder attack on Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. It has become a routine matter that Delhi chief minister, ministers and MLAs are targeted by the Union government and BJP leadership from the day one, after the formation of AAP government in Delhi. BJP is still unable to reconcile to the fact that they have been defeated and AAP under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal rules Delhi. Now they have resorted to physical attacks also, after several cases against ministers and MLAs. This shameless act only exposes the real nature of RSS and BJP. CPI expresses its solidarity with Arvind Kejriwal.
