Credibility of Investigation Agencies and Central Election Commission at Stake
The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India issued the following statement on April 06, 2019:
The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India expects an impartial behaviour from all the Central government investigation agencies and from the Election Commission in particular. However in the recent cases of transfer of officers from some states like West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh and raids on officers of candidates and political parties’ offices by income tax department and similarly leakages of chargesheets in Augusta helicopter cases with false names of accused and gross misuse of power by police in case of lodging a FIR on Com. Kanhaiya without proper permission from the state government show that the agencies and the election commission are showing over enthusiasm and are damaging the democratic norms and attacking federalism.
CPI condemns this and appeals for an independent, neutral stand from these agencies.
