Election Results a Set Back to BJP: CPI
The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India issued the following statement on the state assembly elections:
The results of the assembly elections of Haryana and Maharashtra are clearly a set back to the ruling BJP and its allies and a warning signal that people cannot be taken for granted. Emotional issues and jingoism at the cost of economy and well being of the people have proved to be of no help for the ruling party.
The election results are also a comment on the anti-democratic, anti-constitutional decision of scrapping of Article 370. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah campaigned highlighting that issue in both the states but failed to get their expected results. It is a victory for Indian democracy as well as for the opposition with a clear message that it is possible to defeat the communal designs of BJP-RSS combine in elections if a viable opposition unity is achieved.
The Party calls upon the Left and progressive forces to draw correct lessons from the results, which indicate that the fall of BJP has begun, and forge unity to defeat the anti-people communal RSS-BJP combine.
