Fascist Attack on JNU Condemned
The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India issued the following statement on January 06, 2020:
The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India strongly condemns the fascist attack on the JNU students and teachers.
It is surprising that in spite of police presence in the campus as teachers had already informed them about their proposed peace march, police failed to intervene and arrest the masked goons who attacked the teachers, professors and students.
JNUSU has alleged that ABVP goons from outside participated in this attack and vandalized property and beat students and professors. Even women and girls were beaten. Miss Aishe Ghosh, president of the JNUSU and Mrs. Suchitra Sen, a professor are seriously injured and admitted in hospital along with few others. CPI general secretary Com. D. Raja who rushed to the campus on hearing the news of attacks was hackled and prevented from entering the campus by goons who had assembled there and police were merely spectators. Swaraj party leader Prof. Yogendra Yadav also had a similar experience, when he visited the university.
We condemn this cowardly fascist attack and demand that Home ministry and police authorities take full responsibilities of this attack and negligence and punish the guilty. So far, no arrest has been made.
The Party demands that adequate protection be given to teachers, professors and students and see this attack as a design of fascist to denigrate the name of JNU and justify the repression on those who oppose government policies.
