New Delhi,

Shri Narendra Modi,

Hon’ble Prime Minister,

Government of India,

South Block, New Delhi.

Sub: Resumption of Delhi Broadcast of External Services Division (ESD) Tamil Services – Regarding.

Dear Prime Minister,

I am looking forward to the resumption of Delhi broadcast of the External Services Division (ESD) Tamil services of All India Radio. The service, I understand, has been in operation for the last eight decades broadcasting from Delhi, catering to the listeners in Sri Lanka and South Asia, who passionately follow it. It serves as the connecting chord for the Tamil population there, enabling them to be in touch with the rich heritage of Tamil language and culture.

The ESD Tamil broadcast services from Delhi had seen tall personalities like former Presidents of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Shri. R. Venkataraman and famous personalities from various walks of life, like artists and scientists who have made a great impact in the minds of the common people. The service followed nuanced programme schedule in Tamil from the capital which was highly appreciated and served as benchmark. Although Tamil broadcasts are available from other stations and media platforms for overseas listeners, the Delhi broadcast has a special place of reverence to many talented individuals in and around the Capital. It also happens to draw National award winners and other eminent achievers frequenting the capital, to the Delhi broadcasting studios.

I feel that the legacy must be taken forward with the resumption of the services as usual, to cater to the listeners in Sri Lanka and South Asia, at the earliest.

With kind regards,

Yours sincerely,

General Secretary
