Former CEC T N Seshan Passes Away
The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India issued the following statement on November 11, 2019:
The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India condoles the demise of former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of India, T N Iyer Seshan who died on November 10, 2019. He was 87 years old and was the tenth Chief Election Commissioner who had served from December 12, 1990, till December 11, 1996.
The Party notes that Seshan is widely acclaimed for bringing in electoral reforms that changed the face of Indian elections. Notable among them was the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, which is a set of guidelines issued to regulate political parties and candidates prior to elections.
The Party sends its heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family.
