Greetings from Com. S. Sudhakar Reddy, General Secretary, CPI on the occasion of May Day
The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India issued the following statement on April 30, 2019 greeting the working class on the occasion of May Day:
CPI greets the working class on May Day, the relevance of which has become much more significant in the face of severe onslaught of International finance capital, speculative capital and the offensive of world capitalists on the labour and its unions. The gaps in the living standards between the rich and poor have further widened. The accumulation of wealth in the hands of a few corporates in the respective countries vis a vis its vast population and the multinational corporations at the world level vis a vis national wealth of developing countries, is leading to crises in the economies of several nations.
There is upsurge in the working class in various parts of the world against the loot and for reversal of this trend for justice and equality.
The Indian working class led by its trade unions have been consistently waging struggle against this unjust order.
The working class in India is facing problems with the Narendra Modi led NDA government, which is disinvesting public sector and demolishing its systematically, refusing to implement labour laws. New pension system is anti-working class. The gap between the rich and poor is increasing very fast.
The working class struggles against these policies should be intensified with other sections of working people, peasants, youth and students.
CPI stands with the working class in its battle for the defense of their existing rights and for their endeavor for equality and justice to those who produce wealth.
Long live working class unity and its struggle.
(S Sudhakar Reddy)
