PM’s Speech on Corona Disappointing: CPI
The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India issued the following statement on March 20, 2020 expressing party’s disappointment over PM’s speech on Corona:
The National Secretariat of Communist Party of India appeals to the people of the country tofight corona epidemic unitedly and with self-restraint.
While taking note of the prime minister’s speech and appeal to the people to cooperate with the government and the administration to contain the spread of corona, the Party expresses its disappointment as no concrete measures to help the daily wage earners and the poor people who suffer from the economic crisis were spelt out by the Prime Minister.
Daily wage workers, small businesses and vendors along with others are under stress and strain and hence they need immediate relief. Students stranded due to closure of hostels and institutions also need help. Hope this will be done immediately.
In this regard the Party draws the attention of the Prime Minster and the Union government to the measures taken by the Kerala government in fighting the virus and its spread as well as in extending relief like free ration, etc, to the poor so that their immunity levels are kept unaffected.
Though science so far has not come out with any concrete remedy, it is only science that alone can help us in combating the crisis.
