Withdraw the Gag Order: CPI
The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India issued the following statement on December 27, 2018 demanding the withdrawal of the Union home ministry’s gag order:
The CPI National Secretariat notes with severe condemnation the gag order issued by the Union home ministry on December 21 night authorising ten intelligence, tax and law enforcement agencies to intercept, monitor and decrypt any information generated, transmitted, received or stored in any computer. The government’s defence of the order, which gives sweeping powers to the IB, Narcotics Control Bureau, ED, Central Board of Direct Taxes, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, CBI, NIA, Cabinet Secretariat (R&AW), Directorate of Signal Intelligence and Commissioner of Police, Delhi saying that it is a notification by the previous government is not convincing.
The RSS-controlled Narendra Modi government it its desperation to cover up its total failures in all fronts is coming out with such draconian orders to suppress the voice of dissent as well as to polarize voters by foisting false cases against those who oppose attacks on the Constitution, democracy and secularism.
The National Secretariat demands immediate withdrawal of the order which is a direct attack on right to privacy which has been upheld recently by the Supreme Court.
