CPI expresses deep concern over the situation in the wake of Operation Sindoor. We are firmly with the nation’s fight against terrorism and we believe responses at such critical junctures must reflect unity, responsibility, and democratic inclusivity. We strongly condemn the incidents of indiscriminate shelling from across the border, especially in the Poonch region, which have led to civilian casualties. The CPI extends its deepest condolences to the victims and stands in solidarity with affected families.
Post Operation Sindoor, CPI was the first to call for an all-party meeting to build consensus and demonstrate collective resolve against terrorism. However, we regret that the Prime Minister did not attend the meeting and that some key opposition parties—including the CPI, Jammu & Kashmir-based parties, and several from the North East—were excluded due to the arbitrary five-MP criterion, even as a party with only one Lok Sabha MP was invited. At such times, a national security dialogue should include voices from all corners of the country to reflect our unity.
The CPI reiterates that in these challenging times, our nation’s greatest assets are our unity, secularism, and our democratic spirit. The CPI is committed to peace, national unity, and a united fight against terrorism and hate in all forms. We are deeply disturbed by attempts to communalise the situation, particularly on social media, where minorities are being targeted under the guise of nationalism. Such actions weaken our unity and aid the divisive agenda of terrorist forces. CPI expects the government to be vigilant of such elements and take action.
We assert that our real enemies are terrorism and religious fundamentalism. They must be confronted collectively, across borders and political divides. The CPI calls on both India and Pakistan to exercise restraint, prevent escalation, and pursue diplomatic channels. War multiplies suffering—it cannot provide lasting solutions!
