Condemning U.S. Action against Cuba and Expressing Solidarity with the Cuban People

The Communist Party of India (CPI) strongly condemns the latest unilateral and politically motivated move by the United States administration to re-include Cuba on its list of countries that "do not fully cooperate with its anti-terrorism efforts." This action is yet another shameful episode in the long history of U.S. attempts to discredit and isolate sovereign nations that refuse to submit to its hegemonic dictates.

This unjust designation has no basis in fact. Just a year ago, even the previous U.S. administration acknowledged Cuba's commitment to cooperation in law enforcement and counter-terrorism efforts. There has been no change in Cuba’s principled conduct since then—only a change in the U.S. administration and its apparent desire to impose a regressive and confrontational agenda on international relations.

The deliberate reversal of inter-agency consultation and disregard for concrete evidence shows the arbitrary and coercive nature of U.S. foreign policy. Far from contributing to global peace or security, such tactics are part of the ongoing policy of economic warfare and “maximum pressure” that seeks to punish the Cuban people for their independent path and their resistance to imperialist interference. Though Cuba's record in the fight against terrorism is not only clean—it is commendable.

This latest move by the U.S. administration is a continuation of its hypocrisy—weaponizing the rhetoric of counter-terrorism to pursue imperialist goals while ignoring its own complicity in the very crimes it claims to oppose.

The CPI reaffirms its unwavering solidarity with the Cuban people in their just struggle for dignity, sovereignty, and social justice. We salute Cuba’s courage, clarity, and commitment to peace, and we join progressive forces around the world in demanding that the United States respect international law, abandon its hostile policies, and remove Cuba from all spurious and defamatory lists.
