CPI won’t contest Lok Sabha polls for 1st time in 50 years

PANAJI: For the first time in almost five decades, the Communist Party of India (CPI) will not field its candidates in Goa for the Lok Sabha elections.

The Left party in the political fray in Goa since 1970, decided not to contest the election to allow “consolidation of all the anti-BJP votes in Goa,” it stated at a press conference on
