Communist Party of India is in opposition to the Electoral Bond Scheme ever since it was brought by the BJP government. The CPI is strongly committed to free and fair elections and to the transparent process of electoral funding which should allow level playing field to all political parties.
Due to its principled opposition to the opaque and non-transparent Electoral Bonds Scheme, it never received any Electoral Bond from anybody, which the Supreme Court has declared to be unconstitutional. The CPI remains committed to comprehensive electoral reforms including state
funding of the elections as recommended by the Indrajit Gupta Committee.
The CPI has informed the Election Expenditure Division of the Election Commission of India in this regard on November 4, 2023 itself that CPI has never received any Electoral Bond from anybody.
